City Council member Dragomir Petronijevic and director of PC "Gradsko stambeno" Nikola Kovačević signed Thursday, 28 May 2015 Protocol of collaboration with six associations of persons with disabilities to improve the quality of life of citizens with disabilities.

The signing was attended by the city manager Goran Vesic. On the basis of this protocol until the end of the year will be placed ramps for people with disabilities in different places.

Vesic said that this is an example of how the city and town enterprises, together with associations of citizens, can do something to improve the living conditions of citizens.

The contracts were signed by the Organization for the Protection of Rights and Support of Women with Disabilities, Association for Cerebral and Child Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy Association of Belgrade, the Sports Association of Persons with Disabilities, Hendi Center Coloseum and the Association of Persons with Disabilities "Everything is possible".

President of the Association Hendi Center Coloseum, Darko Ivic, thanked the city and PC “Gradsko stambeno” for their support and sense to cooperate with associations and decided to help.

Belgrade in this way shows that it cares about every citizen, regardless of where she lives, what his physical condition are and what are his needs. When we do it, when we show that we care about children, the elderly, we will become a European city. Then we can say that we have become organized society for all people. In this way we solve problems of people with disabilities, but we have to solve problems of other people who also have specific needs in the same way. We are all born equal, and the obligation of the community is to help anyone who has different needs compared to others. "Gradsko stambeno " is allocated money for hundreds of ramps for the disabled this year, and I believe that the signing of the protocol can only be an incentive to work with that and continue. The City Assembly is working on a daily basis, by various projects, such as urban planning pockets, creating a mini-parks and solving some seemingly small problems, improve the quality of life of people. Large projects are important, but also important are ordinary people and their quality of life - said Vesic and thanked City Council member Dragomir Petronijevic and director of "Gradsko stambeno" Nikola Kovacevic on engagement in this area.

Vesic reminded that this township enterprise in its business actively solve problems of this nature, and added that the representatives of the "Gradsko stambeno" will talk with representatives of the Assembly of tenants of any building which is maintained, in order to solve some of the problems of these people.

City Council member Dragomir Petronijevic said that the City of Belgrade and the "Gradsko stambeno" want to build a city without barriers to make life easier to people with disabilities.

We have cases where individuals are waiting on the ramp for 20 years. We listen to the needs of citizens and we have a campaign where we will visit all the tenants and see how we can help them and facilitate their lives - said Petronijevic.

Director of "Gradsko stambeno", Nikola Kovačević said that the company initiated a project "Belgrade without barriers", in which the end of the year in different locations in the city will be set up hundreds of ramps for people with disabilities.

These ramps are very much important for the elderly and for mothers with children. During the campaign, we decided to contact all associations of persons with disabilities in Belgrade in order to hear their needs and build ramps at their priorities. Last week we put a ramp in Novi Beograd, and now we are setting it on Vidikovacki venac- said Kovacevic.
