Organized by the Municipality of Vračar and Hendi Center "Coloseum" held a panel discussion "The establishment of the service - Agency for psychosocial support and personal assistance for people with disabilities."

The panel was attended Branimir Kuzmanovic, the mayor, Vladimir Pesic, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy, representatives Hendi Center "Coloseum", representatives of Belgrade municipalities that have helped this project and many citizens with disabilities. At the debate broadcast film with the statements of persons with disabilities who have used the services of personal assistants.

Darko Ivic, President Hendi Center "Coloseum", said that this program offers an alternative that has not existed.

-When the project will finished we will have trained people with disabilities and the ability to ask for help by telephone at a certain time. Assistants to do the job they passed a six-month training and have experience in dressing, feeding and other needs of persons with disabilities. This is especially important for those who live alone or do not have the help of others for any reason. Business assistants conceived as a home helps, assistance in going to work or school and help in dealing with a hobby. When it is open in August agencies we will have the help of the local government, and then we will try to help this type entered into the system and be permanently funded - said Ivica.

Vladimir Pesic, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy, said that the ministry supports the work of all organizations of disabled persons in Serbia and they make all efforts in order to improve their position. He recalled that in 2006 adopted the Strategy on improving the situation of persons with disabilities and that the Ministry least once a year announces a competition for the improvement of the program, with particular emphasis on innovative services at the local level, including a program of personal assistants Hendi Center.

Branimir Kuzmanovic, president of Vračar, said that the municipality will always lead the way in helping people with disabilities and is proud to be Vračar, along with the municipality of Stari grad and Novi Beograd, pioneer of new projects in this area.

At the invitation of the National Employment Center, the competition has appeared about 120 candidates, of which on the training sent them 15. Their services for the past six months benefit 40 people with disabilities. Practical and theoretical training as well as work with patients, have been implemented in the Orthopedic Hospital "Dr Miroslav Zotović" and the House of Invalids at Bezanijska Kosa.
